The cafe is lovely, if only they'd put that much effort into the bedrooms.
We had a bedroom with a huge fixed piece of escape equipment in the middle of the already small room - making it hard to move around/have any space for bags. If you get that room it should be cheaper and you should be told about it.
The air conditioning was good and the shared bathrooms were clean.
The staff were all lovely, helpful and friendly.
Wouldn't stay again, but would go to the cafe.

Currently staying at Len Kyoto Kawaramachi and it’s definitely one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in Japan. Very friendly staff. Has a bar/restaurant in reception and it’s a great place to meet other travellers whilst having a coffee or a beer. Great value!

Stylish Hostel with a very nice cafe/bar on the bottom floor. The common room has everything you need and the rooms are quite basic. The lockers are super small though and there is not much space for your backpacks.

I booked 2 nights based on a recommendation from a friend. They must be a heavy sleeper as they told me nothing about the noise. I should have realised  given the bowl of earplugs at reception and the bathroom - bit of a giveaway but it could have been explained better. I stayed on the 4th floor and there appeared to be more males than females. Every night it seemed that the guys had their showers at 10 or 11 o’clock and the stinger was my last night someone had a shower at 3am! My room was adjacent to the shared showers. No one observed the time and kept quiet when others slept. Every time someone above me dropped something on the floor it woke me up. The service was great though and the location excellent. Despite the room being very accommodating, it was just dreadfully noisy.

I booked a room for 3 nights and I ended up leaving after the first night. The room was far too warm and the AC did not work. The concrete walls and floors made everything incredibly loud, and since it is a hostel, it was very hard to tolerate. The shared bathrooms were not bad, but hearing everything from every room on the floor.... it was uncomfortable. Additionally, there was some form of fire escape device/pole next to the beds in the room which limited movement and available space. After voicing my issues and requesting to leave, I wasn't given a refund.
