The chicken appetizer was excellent and the glutinous rice ball dessert was unique and tasty. Everything else was just okay, with the exception of the eggplant entree… that had so much salt my corpse would be preserved for a good few years.

one of my favorite dining experiences in seattle. it is easy to tell why sophon won best new restaurants of 2024 by bon appetit. be sure to eat here before the prices surge !!

we followed people’s recommendations in getting
- mushroom khmeraage 3/5 — while everyone else loved it, i’m not the biggest fan of fried foods. but the crack sauce is great and flavorful
- pork belly 5/5 — so tender, juicy and fatty. comes with a great egg.
- papaya salad 4.5/5 — definitely a spicy kick. a large portion and very flavorful with some a diversity of textural components

we also got the mackerel curry, which was comforting. there was a lot of noodles. wish there was more vegetable + fish, but the flavor was on point.
and finally the trumpet mushroom side was small but surprisingly good, although i think the mains were too good by comparison.

our server was kind and very suave!!

We've been there a few times now. It's always been delicious and good portion sizes. I kinda hate mushrooms but the fried mushroom appetizer is actually pretty good. Almost more flavorful than the fried chicken appetizer. The steak dish has been great, fresh and light feeling. The pork belly was melt in your mouth scrumptious. 5 stars for sure!

Update - I previously gave 5 stars, but taking 1 off due to my recent awful experience with online reservation. I booked a reservation for Tuesday 11/12 but got the flu the weekend before. When I tried to cancel this reservation on OpenTable, it says to call the restaurant. I called the restaurant on both Sunday and Monday but no one picked up because the restaurant is closed. On Tuesday I got more sick and forgot to call, and got charged a $25 per person no show fee. I had to call twice again to ask if they can waive the fee. At first they said: “We don’t open on Sunday and Monday, so even if you called on Tuesday it would be within 24 hours and the fee would apply”. This means that if you have a reservation on Tuesday and somehow need to cancel, you better call 96 hours ahead on Saturday, otherwise expect to be charged. That’s just a lot to ask from the customers. Eventually they agreed to waive the charge, but I’d just avoid making reservations at this place again.

2024/8: 5 stars for creativity. The fried chicken is excellent - super tender and juicy, great with crack sauce (although the sauce is $3 extra). The coconut marinade pork belly was super tender and flavorful, good to pair with the bamboo and rice. The shrimp salad was just ok, not a fan of cold rice noodle, but I do see the efforts put into this dish. The cocktails are very strong, which is not a complaint.

A friend recommended us to come here for dinner. We had such an amazing experience. The food and drink are amazing, attentive customer service. Can’t wait to come back here again. Street parking. Recommended to make reservations in advance.
