ETA: per the AP, the local culinary union reached a five-year deal as of 1/23/25, so the strike is over. Congrats to them for holding strong until they got a just deal and now I feel better about returning to this property in the future!

My husband and I chose this hotel for its proximity to the airport because we were only staying one night (while en route to Hawaii) and because it was within walking distance of a bunch of restaurants, shops, and an excellent cannabis dispensary if that’s your jam. (It’s The Grove Dispensary, by the way.) You will see lots of planes flying, which can get loud especially outside, but if you’re a fan of plane spotting you will be in heaven.

The property itself is basically a large boutique hotel/casino: it has a smaller footprint compared to a full-fledged resort on the Strip, but it is still quite large. Traveler tip: if you have several rolling suitcases, or even one, avoid walking through the maze of carpeted hallways and opt instead to roll through the outdoor lawn area, as the paved walkways are much easier to navigate. Our room in the Opal tower was nice: spacious, clean, and afforded a good view of the southern end of the Strip as well as the pool area. The bathroom was nice, but the door to the shower and toilet room is comically large. The large door that closes between the bedroom and the bathroom/entryway is nice, but unless you jam the chair at the vanity desk against it, it doesn’t stay open.

If you have Hilton Diamond/Gold status, you are eligible for a $15 per person food and beverage credit and it’s good for either Kassi Beach House or the breakfast buffet. We opted for a late lunch at Kassi, and our meals were tasty, elegant, and offered a generous portion for the price. Obviously it’s still a Las Vegas hotel restaurant, but the value for the money was solid.

Speaking of the food, however, I didn’t realize when we were booking the room that the local culinary union was on strike here, and I absolutely hated crossing that picket line. I hope management does everything they can to resolve this justly, as the lifeblood of Las Vegas is its impressive hospitality workforce, and they deserve fair pay, benefits, and treatment for everything they do to make the customer experience a special one.

We had a great one-night stay at Virgin Hotels after a trip to Death Valley and before heading home. Oscar at the front desk was an amazing CSR and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great room. We enjoyed great meals and customer service at the Pizza shop and the breakfast kitchen. The suite was amazing, clean, and comfy and we slept so well.

While I don’t know the details of the Culinary Union strike (did not know about it until we pulled in the hotel), we experienced great service inside and were not able to hear the strikers.

This place was terrible. They had a strike, we got no warning of this we were harassed each time we went out or in of the parking garage. I regret staying here, had great reviews. My room was filthy, we went to target bought cleaning supplies and I cleaned my own room. They had no cleaning staff no restaurants open, the casino was a ghost town. Don’t recommend. The room was nice except really dirty. After I cleaned my own room I didn’t want to move. I also requested housekeeping, no one came ever. Then we saw the housekeeping staff and one lady said what’s up to us and looked drunk/hingover, reeked of smoke I figured it’d be best not to have them clean. Considered taking a bath and changed my mind after filling up tub. Def not the cosmopolitan. Tried to speak to management they kept saying someone would call us, or we could sit at the lobby and wait for one to become available. No thanks. Message received.

Oh sometime during our stay our room reeked of bleach, they must have been cleaning a crime scene next door, it was unbearable. We called and they offered to send someone to deodorize the room with perfume, we declined, they sent them anyway. More smells

I keep adding as I remember: our mini bar was empty, we didn’t care we just made sure to let them know. When we arrived we didn’t have towels, no laundry bag, no soaps, nothing. It’s as though our room had been used, beds were made and that’s it. Either way the “mini bar” fridge was filthy and disgusting

I only stayed for one night, but it was a lovely experience! The hotel is fairly new, so everything looks and feels modern. I received a room upgrade with Hilton Gold status, and it was lovely! Very spacious and clean. Pretty good location if you want a quick drive to the strip or the airport.

Had a great time here except for the Culinary Strike going on at hotel.  People yelling at you…. Calling you losers for staying here…. Making it very uncomfortable to walk around property.  The Ruby Tower was nice and the staff was beyond in their service from the front desk to the housekeeping.  The grounds are lovely…. Will come back… hopefully no more strike going on.  Really enjoyed our 3 day stay though.  🩵
