I recently visited Darby Dan sandwich shop in South San Francisco and had a delightful experience! I indulged in one of their liverwurst sandwiches, which was absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, and served fresh. Crab Salad Sandwiches are my favorite and Darbys is solid! Hefty on the fillings and flavor is definitely top 3. On this particular visit I asked if the sandwich could be toasted and I was shown the crab melt sandwich as the option. Next time will maybe give that a try but not sure that’s exactly what I was looking for so I rolled with it as usual, everything on it except jalapeños.

The food Here is truly amazing. Some of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Bread is fresh and the ingredients are too. The meatball sandwich is big and tasty. Their crab sandwiches are to die for. I wanted to try something different and I was excited to find another great sandwich place. This is a must try if your in the San Fran area.

I have been going to Darby Dans since it  first opened  in the 70's. The place had a small counter and a few women working there. No longer live in California.  Plus , moved out of the bay area years ago. I have been there at least one time a year since they opened.

For people that are serious about sandwiches, Darby Dan’s is living the hood life, South San Francisco style. I recommend the Darby Dan signature sandwich as it comes (don’t mess with perfection) on Dutch Crunch bread. If you can go on a Thursday and Friday the 1/2 Shrimp, 1/2 Crab salad sandwich is a little bite of Heaven!
