Food is well thought out. The Pork Belly Jok was a pleasant surprise! The porridge was soft and the pork skin was crunchy. The flavour from the Tom Yum was acidic and savoury and there was a smoky taste that reminds you of camping.

On the other hand, the steak and eggs was quite disappointing. The fried rice was really good and had a lot of flavours and aromas going on but the steak was bland, tough, and sinewy.

The thai iced tea was good but not that remarkable.

For the price and the 1 hour wait, I can think of many other places that I would rather go to. But if there are some dishes that you’re interested in, you won’t be let down (unless its the steak).

This is a great location for brunch. Their plates are beautifully presented and combination of flavors is unique. Come here if you want to impress your friends. Or just come for a fancy treat.

This time we ordered the crab and corn cake benedict, the breakfast burrito, the pork belly and matcha pancakes. All very good.  They don't have milk alternatives for their coffee, so I had to get a Bloody Mary, :)

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, finally stopped in for dinner.  It was pretty empty when we arrived but it was before 6pm.  We were seated promptly and menus and water brought out to the table.  We spent a little time trying to decide cause there were a few dishes that looked good.  Finally we decided on samosas, drunken noodles, spicy Thai basil with chicken, spicy Thai basil with beef, and fries chicken over fries rice.  Samosas came out first.  Looks like they made their own dough, but they were delicious.  The included cucumber salad was also very good.  Our food came out shortly after.  Portion size is better than other Thai restaurants.  Drunken noodles were great.  Spicy Thai basil was also great, heat level was ok.  Personally I would like it a little spicier but it was fine for my sister.  Both beef and chicken versions were delicious.  My kid didn't care for the fried chicken over fries rice but he's very picky.  I tried it and thought it was good.  Service was really good, they were good about removing empty plates and refilling our water.  I'll need to stop in for breakfast one day cause some of those dishes sound yummy.

A viral brunch post brought us over here to visit Daly City and Kan Kiin! The restaurant is amazing and lively. There was a birthday party going on at the time we went, so it seems like a good place for bigger parties. The bigger parties are seated right in the center of the restaurant.

All the dishes are incredible. You can see in the photos of what we ordered, however I would call out that the Tom Yum porridge was our favorite. Never tasted anything like this before. The pork belly is tender and it mixes well with the porridge to make for a hearty and balanced meal. I would order three more of these if I could. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My recent visit to Kan Kiin Brunch & Thai was a bit of a rollercoaster. The queue (wait-list) was chaotic and the staff's preferential treatment of certain "influencer" left a sour taste in my mouth... is this Bay Area culture now??

While the waitstaff were generally polite, there was a noticeable undercurrent of sass and attitude.

The food was decent but not mind-blowing. The "stormy" cocktail was a solid 7/10, and the pork belly "juk" was enjoyable with its crispy skin and tender meat. However, both the chicken and waffles and the pork belly dish lacked a distinct flavor profile. The standout was the "Drunken Spaghetti," a basil-forward dish that truly delivered on Thai flavors.

Overall, Kan Kiin was an okay experience, but the disorganized queue, preferential treatment, and inconsistent food left me feeling underwhelmed. It's a Daly City establishment with a slightly elitist vibe, which is a shame because I had high hopes based on a friend's recommendation. Perhaps it was just an off day, but I'm not sure I'm eager to give it another try.

Final Verdict: 6/10 - Could be worth a visit if you're in the area and curious, but don't expect to be blown away.
