The last time I went to Great China was when they were in their old location. This new location is spacious and very minimalistic looking. For the food, it is GREAT! For the price it is slightly pricier, but you can taste and see the quality! Everything was on point and so good! I ordered 3 dishes, tea, and rice. The total is a lot, but like I stated before it is the quality you are paying for!

Great China is a true gem for Chinese cuisine lovers. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, authentic ambiance that instantly makes you feel at home. The menu offers an impressive variety of traditional and modern Chinese dishes, each prepared with fresh ingredients and bold flavors.

We started with the hot and sour soup, which was perfectly balanced – not too spicy, with perfect amount of tanginess that awakened the taste buds. For the main course, the Peking Duck is a must-try, with its crispy skin and succulent meat, served with thin pancakes, sauce and green onions.
What sets Great China apart is their attention to detail. Every dish is beautifully presented, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. The service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive, and the staff was knowledgeable, offering great recommendations.
Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch, a family dinner, or a celebratory feast, Great China delivers an unforgettable dining experience. I can’t recommend it enough for anyone seeking top-notch Chinese food in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Five stars!

Solid place for Chinese! It’s a nicer place, I’ve been there for a couple special occasions. I like the Moo shu pork, duck, and sweet and sour calamari.

I’ve had this place on my list since moving back to the East Bay, so when I had the opportunity I went for a visit.

I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken Lunch set which came with Hot & Sour Soup along with a salad and egg roll. The soup came out hot and was good followed by my platter. I was excited to dig in as it looked good, but I was let down by the taste. First off, there was no spice to the kung pao chicken. It tasted like a generic Chinese-American dish with no real flavor. I would say that Panda Express’ version is a lot tastier. The salad was just shredded lettuce with some dressing and the egg roll tasted like it was made hours before and sat under a hot lamp.

I was disappointed because the restaurant is very nice and the service was friendly and quick, but with the food lacking in flavor, I left underwhelmed.

Great China is a popular spot for Northern Style Chinese cuisine, especially for their Peking Duck. The interior is contemporary styled with high ceilings. Having hosted a large party, we had an opportunity to order a wide selection of dishes. I felt that the dishes were hit or miss. Our fish in wine sauce was a miss, and I was a bit disappointed that the house speciality Peking Roast Duck was not dressed table-side, and the pancakes especially thin. The duck was a $72 dish.

On the plus side, you can ask to take the duck carcass home so you can make a soup. The Zhenjiang pork ribs dish is quite nice and our table was very happy with the garlic fried rice and salt/pepper prawns. The restaurant is not inexpensive and I think there were some missed opportunities. A small palate cleansing dessert would have gone a long way with patrons I think.
