Sant Sadurní d'Anoia
In the heart of Catalonia, the charming town of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia invites travelers to immerse themselves in the rich traditions of Spanish winemaking. Known as the birthplace of Cava, this picturesque locale brims with vineyards that stretch under the Catalonian sun, where the crisp notes of sparkling wine allure connoisseurs and casual sippers alike. Wander through the streets of Carrer de Vilafranca, where the charming blend of rustic architecture and modern flair creates a magical backdrop for leisurely strolls.
As one explores, the aromas of fresh pastries waft from local bakeries, teasing the palate and beckoning a stop for leisurely bites paired with a glass of local Cava. The town is not only a hub for wine enthusiasts but also a canvas for the arts, offering cultural experiences that reflect the vibrant history of the region.
A visit to the iconic famed Cava houses, such as Freixenet and Codorníu, is a must. Here, guided tours lead guests through the cellars, revealing the meticulous process behind each effervescent bottle, and providing tastings that transport the senses to the sun-drenched hillsides of Catalonia.
Beyond its sparkling allure, Sant Sadurní d'Anoia is also surrounded by rolling landscapes perfect for exploration—hiking trails kiss the horizon, promising breathtaking views of the Penedès countryside. Invigorate your spirit as you lose yourself in nature and savor the tranquility that envelops this hidden gem.
Whether indulging in world-class wines, experiencing the warmth of local hospitality, or wandering through its storied streets, Sant Sadurní d'Anoia unfolds as a delightful destination that captivates the heart and palate of every visitor.

Rent a bike and cycle around in the beautiful Cava Region. Stop at different vineyards for tastings and lunch/dinner. It’s an amazing experience. Perfect day trip you’re visiting Barcelona - it only takes around 1 hour by train to the region. My favorite cava houses to visit are: Freixenet, Codirniu, Solà Raventos, Gramona & Ventura Soler.
