Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Deco is not the newest but it has a beautiful charm and character. That's only part of the whole, which is the gorgeous grounds the building is set in. Few things better than enjoying delicious experiences while gazing out at a lovely sweeping lawn set under old trees. But this is a restaurant and I haven't mentioned any of that. It started with an amuse bouche to go with our aperitif. Then we were sat at our table and the flavour explosions carried on over the next 4 courses. Absolutely delicious, beautifully plated and served with decorum and expertise. The chef talked through everything with us at the start and at the end, you could really tell his experience and passion for the business. The waiting staff were excellent too, really helpful and attentive. I think this is my new favourite restaurant, especially as it's just down the road

it's rare these days to find a restaurant where the chef and his colleagues aim solely to please the guest.  Hof van Herstal is such a unique establishment - from its warm welcome, the inviting setting and the dedication to excellence of its cuisine.  Ingredients of the highest quality (I think of the wild smoked salmon and the turbot) expertly and lovingly prepared. In addition, this chef understands that the correct temperature of food and wine is vital in bringing out the full flavour: the champagne and white burgundy (11*) not too cold, the new world Sauvignon slightly fresher, the turbot with its truffle sauce not too hot, and the red fruit ambient.  The so very light texture of the creme (made with eggs from the Herstal chickens) topped by the hot brulee lingered well after the feast had finished.  Thank you.  We shall be back.

The food in this place is absolutely fantastic. We had the chef come out and talk us through our menu, providing ample options for one of us w/ dietary restrictions. The service is very professional and attentive without being intrusive. For some reason, the place was not very busy (a Thursday night) and by 10pm we were the only customers in the restaurant, but I would recommend making a reservation anyway.

I think this is the best restaurant nearby!! Service is top notch, the kitchen is incredibly varied and delicious!! The design of the interior invites you to have a pleasant rest, plays unobtrusive beautiful music. Thank you very much!
