Situated in the vibrant Centra rajons of Rīga, the Latvian National Museum of Art is conveniently located near other cultural landmarks. Visitors can easily explore nearby attractions such as the historic Old Town, the Freedom Monument, and the beautiful parks that adorn the city. The museum is also accessible via public transport, with paid street parking available for those driving.

This museum is what I believe the most-visited museum in Latvia, and I think it's justified. The building itself is very impressive, and the outside park is lovely.
I purchased my ticket in advance using Riga's local app, Mobility, where you can also buy bus tickets. When I arrived, I simply showed my ticket to the staff and received a sticker without having to wait in line.
The museum is quite spacious. Currently, there are four temporary exhibitions and a permanent exhibition. I really like the fact that they have photography exhibitions in addition to paintings. I enjoyed Binde 100-10 and The First Five Years!
Also, the staff were super nice and welcoming!

Latvian National Art museum was a nice collection of paintings both classical and contemporary artworks. It was a nice variety and the descriptions were good on the artworks to explain the political background and ideas of the artists further.

They have a nice storage facility in the basement which allow you to still view some of the artwork not currently ok display in the main galleries.

Free Audio guide was available through Soundcloud and QR codes which was
convenient and better than traditional audio guides.

Toilets were clean and cloakroom area was available. No queues here.

This museum is definitely worth a visit! It displays Latvian art (18th century till today) on several floors. You can even see how paintings are stored (basement). The impressive neo-baroque building offers a suitable and interesting exhibition space. There are audio guides available and the staff is very friendly! The museum also has a small museum shop and a restaurant. They are very kid/ family friendly.

Space designed for art. You can absorb your own thoughts and be present once you’ve entered the exhibition. Adventurous journey, through the whole museum, starting in the basement and then looking at the city view from the rooftop  is by far my favorite!

One of the best art museums I’ve been to. Great explanations with each piece contextualising the art. I especially loved the exhibitions on the 2nd floor from Latvian photographer Binde and the ‘Dismantling the Wall’ collection. The museum has an app that includes audio tours and essays from specialists in related sociological areas. All of this writing added so much meaning to the exhibitions that I feel most art museums lack.

There’s an area for kids, a cloakroom, lockers, and a café with friendly and attentive staff. The building itself is stunning. Was very happy spending hours here!
