We were recommended by locals and could not have been happier with this recommendation. The owners, the gentleman serving the tables, and the food were all excellent. And I must say the house wine, which is bottled in labeled under the restaurant brand, a Sangiovese, has been the best housewife we’ve had throughout our trip to Italy. Would recommend and would return.

4.8/5 (5/5 food; 5/5 service; 4/5 atmosphere). Beautiful restaurant which was advised to me from the michelin guide. We walked in to book as it was impossibile to get them on the phone. Nonetheless, food was excellent. Very traditional home style cooking, simole but amazing ingredients. Good wine list, althiugh could be better. Staff were very friendly and quick and helpful. Overall had a very good evening.

La Palomba in Orvieto is an absolute gem! The pasta was simply divine, perfectly cooked and bursting with authentic flavors that transported us straight to the heart of Italian cuisine. The steak I had was beyond amazing – tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Each bite was a delightful experience, showcasing the chef's expertise and the high quality of ingredients used.

The outside decor added to the charm, with beautiful, rustic touches that created a warm and inviting ambiance. Dining al fresco under the lovely setup made the experience even more memorable.

If you're in Orvieto, visiting Trattoria La Palomba is an absolute must. It’s a culinary experience that you won't forget. Highly, highly recommend!

One of the best meals we had in Umbria. Everything is fantastic here: the service, the incredible food, the ambiance, the wine selection, and even the oil on the table and the amaro after dinner. The owners and the staff are delightful and very helpful. We had great wine (Montefalco rosso), great pasta with boar ragù, the most tender and delicious filet with nettle sauce, and some amazing selection of Pecorino cheese. Absolutely recommended, but make sure you reserve in advance because It - deservedly - fills up fast.

This was my fourth time at La Palomba, though the other three were a couple of years ago.  Then it was friendly and hearty.  On my last night that year I wanted to go there with my friend. I asked the hotel to call and see if we could come right over.  No, they told the hotel they were fully booked.  So, I went round myself and they said, sure, seeing that I was a familiar foreign tourist on my last night, sure,  for the two of us, they’d find room.  Good food, nicely hospitable place.
They have since been noticed by Michelin, and the food is tastier or, at least, more original than I remember from before.  Very good.  But I too supinely accepted the wine they recommended to me with great assurance for my dish of pigeon, and I very soon announced I didn’t like it. Not to worry—it seemed— the sommelier analyzed my dislike and opened a new one which I very much did like. But at the end they charged me for both bottles, with the “best they could do courtesy” of ten euros discount.  They did not remove the first bottle from the table or the check,  something, in my experience, a properly bred Michelin restaurant would have done.  La Palomba has become chichi and chintzy in its golden new moment.

Since then,, the restaurant has refunded the entire substantial credit card charge for the dinner: very generous, indeed, beyond a merely correct or fair resolution, a friendly reconciliation.
