Fantastic!

Went here for my girlfriend’s birthday and we ordered the chef’s tasting menu. We both found it exquisite and loved the creative takes on local Sicilian products and dishes.

We were seated at a table directly by the balcony and watched the sun set as we had a leisurely and luxurious meal. Highly recommend booking the tasting menu for an earlier reservation time so you can have a similar experience!

Definitely pricey (as most Michelin star restaurants are). And a bit more laid back than some fine dining establishments. My family is Sicilian so I found the experience very meaningful.

This is in my opinion not a Michelin star restaurant. I have been to several. Food was good, but not Michelin level. I believe it’s overpriced. Normally I wouldn’t write this review as I only feel like writing a review if I am very impressed or extremely disappointed. In La Capinera, the overall meal was good, but when prices are at Michelin level without delivering a Michelin experience I think it’s useful to share my experience with other travelers. High prices can be acceptable if location is stunning. This restaurant is somewhat trafficked with a terrace situated in between a main road and train tracks (four/five trains passed during our dinner). However, the view overlooking the sea is beautiful, if you take away the background noise from the traffic. Toilettes are not spotless and have an automatic lighting that turn off if you don’t move. Not very pleasant and I had to walk well into the dark room in the basement before the light switched on. The best quality of the restaurant was the service by the staff. Although, when asking the Michelin restaurant to order a taxi, we got a local non registered person that didn’t accept card payment and became very unpleasant. Overall a restaurant not delivering according to expectations and the first true disappointment traveling throughout Italy with the family for  the past two weeks.

I had high expectations for La Capinera in Taormina, given its Michelin star rating, but unfortunately the overall experience was a little disappointing.

Dishes lacked the creativity and finesse one would expect from a Michelin-starred establishment. Wine pairing was not to my liking.

Service was also underwhelming, aside from Cherbern who was great, with very quick service between courses and lacked the timing for the wine pairing.

I hope they can improve to meet the standards that come with such accolades.

PS you've set your Google maps page to being a hotel not a restaurant.

Update - Pietro, would be happy to set up a zoom video call to discuss further upon my return. It isn't the customer's priority to bother the chef on the evening, it is incumbent on the chef to visit their customers on the floor to see how they're enjoying or not.

The meal and service here was of a 1-star quality.  We went with the fish tasting menu and a wine paring for an early seating in the evening.

Overall the food was lovely along with an appropriate paired wine service.

Ate at the restaurant. Very expensive for what you get. Michelin prices. We opted for a la carte. They kindly split the dishes since we wished to share but portion sizes were Michelin tasting style even for the a la carte. 35 euro (or 40) for paccheri pasta that had literally 1 mussel per person (two total). Another 40 for two lamb chops, 1 biters. Food in isolation was tasty enough. Service was good

But the ambience. Some of the worst music played I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant. Van Gogh would’ve offed his second ear. All covers from guys you’d expect to see under a tree on a college quad. Made me want to leave as soon as I was able.
