Amazing food and wine. No wonder why it has Michelin stars. Service kind and attentive. I recommend the tiramisu and yoghurt dessert.

What a surprise to find such an amazing restaurant in the town of Pescara. Chef Alfonso is truly a creative genius. We had amazing food, with an incredible wine list and impeccable service. Don’t miss this gem.

You will eat very good food here. Went there and try their 4 course menu. Price is very affordable compared to other restaurants that offer similar level of quality, food is excellent. All in all, it’s a must try if you want to have culinary experience with affordable price

I'll start by saying there was nothing at all wrong with what I ate. This is a matter of expectations meeting reality. Estrò is a repeat entry in the Michelin Guide and specifically has their Bib Gourmand accolade. This means you're supposed to get a particularly good-value and hearty meal.

I took the €35 tasting menu which means the chef decides what to serve you. All the set menus include coperto, water and coffee but I was charged for these on their flagship menu. Yes, only a few euros, but it's the principle, especially in a place with such a reputation. I was too hot and tired to query it so considered it their tip and left it alone.

Now the food. Top marks for presentation and concept, but everything tasted just good enough without much of a wow factor. Few really intense flavours to make it particularly memorable, it all felt like it was trying too hard to impress.

I came away regretting not going à la carte for a couple of prime picks. The tartare was uneventful, the savoury fish mousse profiteroles were a nice idea, the spaghetti was solid but unremarkable, the highlight was the medium rare beef with its superb tangy garnishes, and the dessert was good on texture but lacked enough punch on flavour for my liking. Although they were straight 5's for presentation and texture, I'd rate the courses 2, 4, 3, 5, 3 on taste.

I had wondered why I was the only client on a Saturday lunchtime in July and maybe I have the answer - the locals find it too pretentious for what it is, and the tourists want something more traditional.

On balance this place is a 4* if you just show up and eat, but a 3* if you come expecting the excellence that a Bib Gourmand rating should connote.
