An exceptional dining experience in a beautiful and elegant space. We loved our experience and I would recommend it for dinner especially when in the area.

Atmosphere - feels like you are transported back in time when you enter the restaurant. Which I gladly enjoy as compared to the hustle and bustle of the city.

Food - it was okay. Traditional Hungarian dishes and the produce depends on the season.

Service - top notch. Service staffs were attentive, friendly and the sommelier made good recommendations of the local wines in the region of Tokaj.

I recently had the pleasure of dining this fantastic place, that truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff who provided exceptional service throughout my visit. The attention to detail in the cleanliness of the rooms was impressive, making for a comfortable staying experience.

The atmosphere was inviting and relaxed, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. Additionally, the spa conditions were top-notch, offering a serene environment to unwind before or after dining. Overall, this hotel is a gem, combining great service, cleanliness, and a wonderful ambiance that makes it a must-visit.

Well-done restaurant nestled in a quaint hotel.

Staff was accommodating (as can be) considering there was only one English speaker who was on staff (yes, I know I'm in Hungary).

Best organized wine list I saw in the area. Each village had their own map with corresponding wines. Really laid methodically for beginner newbies like us.

Beautifully coordinated storage unit, too. All the colors of the wines produced a golden rainbow glow.

The language gap forced some delays in service. But we were enjoying our meals, environment and company, so it wasn't unbearable.

Order the cheese plate and ask for a Tokaji recommendation (or two) from your server.

When narrowing down somewhere to eat. I recommend keeping this place on your radar.

It started off a bad way when I arrived to the restaurant alone and I was asked if I had a table booked. I did not but given that the restaurant was empty, I couldn’t see an issue. The waiter girl went back to ask and I was told that I CAN eat here, which felt pretty patronising.

The restaurant itself feels dark, like as if you were in the vaults and there is a mellow music. I was served by 4 different waiters but mainly an older gentleman, who somehow turned me around as he was attentive and kind. I was to have two courses (a starter and the main) but I changed my mind in the end and had a dessert too.

The food itself was nicely presented but it didn’t take my breath away. I had the beef liver as a main course and interestingly I didn’t really like the wine pairing for that course - in my head something sweet would have gone better with that rather than a fresh, dry and fruity wine as suggested. My waiter was lovely and brought out an outstanding late harvest sweet wine that literally changed the whole board game, just made the dish super tasty. The dessert, bobajka, the actually name of the restaurant, was lovely too.

All in all the dinner was nice, but not remarkable. My experience of the service was hugely mixed. The price is very affordable, especially for western standards (less than £50 for 3 courses, wine and water). They automatically add 15% service charge to the bill, which is correct. All in all it was okay, but I didn’t love it and perhaps I wouldn’t return again.
