This is an absolute amazing place and totally worth the money. My boyfriend and I had an absolutely amazing evening, which we will never forget. Absolutely everything about that place is amazing: the food is totally delicious, creative and beautiful, the service is heartwarming, the atmosphere is great. Want to go there again!

Das Restaurant Intense in Wachenheim lebt Gastfreundschaft mit Leib und Seele. Das historische Gebäude mitten im Zentrum wurde 2022 aufwendig renoviert und verbindet Tradition mit modernem Luxus – man merkt, dass hier ein maßgeschneidertes Konzept von A bis Z umgesetzt wurde.

Zwei Gästezimmer im ersten Stock sind eine praktische Sache. Unser Zimmer war elegant im japanischen Stil eingerichtet, großzügig geschnitten, modern ausgestattet und mit liebevollen Details versehen. Besonders angenehm: Der Kühlschrank wird während des Dinners aufgefüllt, sodass das Frühstück entspannt im Zimmer genossen werden kann. Granola und Joghurt, Hausgemachtes wie Brot, Marmelade oder sogar Käse waren qualitativ sehr hochwertig und einfach lecker.

Das Dinner selbst ist mehr als nur ein Essen – es ist eine inszenierte Genussreise. Der Abend startete in der gemütlichen „Guten Stube“ mit modern interpretierten Pfälzer Klassikern und einem Aperitif. Für uns fiel die Wahl auf Krug Champagner, das Intense ist eines der wenigen Krug Markenbotschafter Restaurants, und einen alkoholfreien prickelnden Drink.

Nach der guten Stube wird man in die Speisekammer geführt, wo Brot gebacken und fermentiert wird. Danach geht es in das überraschend moderne Restaurant mit offener Küche. Im Restaurant sitzen die Gäste entweder am Tresen oder am Tisch und tauchen in eine Welt japanisch inspirierter Gerichte ein. Viele entstehen auf offenem Feuer, die Köche servieren und erzählen die Geschichten hinter den Gerichten.

Besonders beeindruckend war die Flexibilität beim Getränkeangebot: Von Wein über alkoholfreie Begleitungen bis hin zu einer großen Sake-Auswahl – alles wird auf die individuellen Vorlieben abgestimmt. Wir entschieden uns primär für Sake, und die Expertise von Chefin Bettina hat uns nachhaltig begeistert.

Das Menü selbst: würzig, kreativ, detailverliebt. Fast alles wird im Haus gefertigt – von der Misopaste über das Dashi bis hin zum Brot. Die Gerichte sind klar japanisch inspiriert, aber modern interpretiert, immer mit einem eigenen Twist.

Die offene Küche schafft eine lockere, lebendige Atmosphäre – man fühlt sich als Teil des Geschehens, ohne dass es an Professionalität mangelt. Vier Stunden vergingen wie im Flug, auch weil wir am Tresen immer etwas zu schauen hatten.

Von Anfang bis Ende war der Abend dramaturgisch perfekt inszeniert und echtes Storytelling - modernes Fine Dining ohne Steifheit.

Fazit: Der Name ist Programm - intensiv sind nicht nur die Aromen, sondern auch die Präsentation der Gerichte und das Erlebnis als Gast. Man sollte unbedingt einen Platz am Tresen nehmen, das war das Tüpfelchen auf dem I. Für uns hat das Restaurant das Niveau eines Zwei-Sterne-Restaurants – sowohl kulinarisch als auch atmosphärisch. Eines der schönen Zimmer zu nehmen und den nächsten Morgen mit einem leckeren Frühstück zu starten ist absolut empfehlenswert und ergänzt den Abend perfekt.

The Intense restaurant in Wachenheim lives hospitality with heart and soul. The historic building right in the center was extensively renovated in 2022 and combines tradition with modern luxury - you can tell that a tailor-made concept was implemented here from A to Z.

Two guest bedrooms on the first floor are a practical feature. Our room was elegantly furnished in Japanese style, generously sized, modernly equipped and provided with loving details. Particularly pleasant: The refrigerator is filled during dinner, so that breakfast can be enjoyed relaxed in the room. Granola and yoghurt, homemade items such as bread, jam or even cheese were of very high quality and simply delicious.

The dinner itself is more than just a meal – it is a staged culinary journey. The evening started in the cozy “Guten Stube” with a modern interpretation of Palatinate classics and an aperitif. For us the choice fell on Krug champagne, the Intense is one of the few Krug brand ambassador restaurants, and a non-alcoholic sparkling drink.

After the living room you are led into the pantry, where bread is baked and fermented. Then we go to the surprisingly modern restaurant with an open kitchen. In the restaurant, guests sit either at the counter or at the table and immerse themselves in a world of Japanese-inspired dishes. Many are created over an open fire, with chefs serving and telling the stories behind the dishes.

The flexibility in the range of drinks was particularly impressive: from wine to non-alcoholic accompaniments to a large selection of sake - everything is tailored to individual preferences. We primarily decided on sake, and we were deeply impressed by boss Bettina's expertise.

The menu itself: spicy, creative, with attention to detail. Almost everything is made in-house – from the miso paste to the dashi to the bread. The dishes are clearly Japanese inspired, but interpreted in a modern way, always with their own twist.

The open kitchen creates a relaxed, lively atmosphere - you feel part of the action without a lack of professionalism. Four hours flew by, also because we always had something to look at at the counter.

From start to finish, the evening was dramaturgically perfectly staged and real storytelling - modern fine dining without stiffness.

Conclusion: The name says it all - not only are the aromas intense, but also the presentation of the dishes and the experience as a guest. You should definitely take a seat at the counter, that was the icing on the cake. For us, the restaurant has the level of a two-star restaurant - both in terms of cuisine and atmosphere. Taking one of the beautiful rooms and starting the next morning with a delicious breakfast is highly recommended and complements the evening perfectly.

Einzigartige Kulinarik an urbanem Flair mit einem Hauch von Gerümpel.
Mein Eindruck: Wenn man noch mehr Wert auf Finesse und Optik legt (siehe Anhang), und dafür ein paar wenige Gänge einspart, gibt es den ein oder anderen Stern dazu - mühelos.
PS. Small talk an der Bar mit euch ist klasse. Die gesamte Athmosphäre ein Erlebnis.
