Schorn is a lovely place that seems to have ambitions of becoming a Michelin star restaurant. The interior of the dining room is impeccable like if you were in a classic french restaurant. Food is first class but so are the prices. 5 courses for €125 and 6 courses for €148. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the young waiter tries his best but lacks training. For any restaurant it is a cardinal sin to pour a new wine into the glass where the guest just rank a different wine. Only when you request new glasses do you get this. Likewise they should consider renovating the toilets which are quite run down. All in all a great dinner but at too high a price. You can get 1 michelin star food in DUS for less.

Lange waren wir nicht mehr im Schorn, das schöne Haus war ja viele Jahre geschlossen.

Nun war es wieder soweit und...... Es war unfassbar schön. Wir sind Weinliebhaber und dort allerbestens aufgehoben.

Unser 7 Gang Menü ein Traum, Adlerfisch in Perfektion, Lamm mit viel Fantasie, großartige Amuse Bouche. Die Weinbegleitung öffnete uns Tiefen in herausragenden Varianten. Ein feinherber 15 Jahre alter Rotwein aus dem Kaiserstuhl, Hallo? Wo gibt es den sowas geniales 😱

Zudem ein äußerst charmanter Service eines Jungen Azubis, der noch eine schöne Karriere vor sich haben könnte.

Danke liebes Schorn Team, das war wirklich große Klasse. Hier muss nächstes Jahr ein Stern verliehen werden!

We haven't been in the chimney for a long time, the beautiful house was closed for many years.

Now it was that time again and...... It was incredibly beautiful. We are wine lovers and are in the best hands there.

Our 7 course menu is a dream, eagle fish in perfection, lamb with a lot of imagination, great amuse bouche. The wine accompaniment opened up depths for us in outstanding variations. A delicately bitter 15-year-old red wine from the Kaiserstuhl, hello? Where can you find something so brilliant 😱

In addition, an extremely charming service from a young trainee who could still have a nice career ahead of him.

Thank you dear Schorn team, that was really great. A star must be awarded here next year!

Mehr als 30 Jahre betrieb Gasto Urgestein Franz-Josef Schorn seingleichnamiges Restaurant im Düsseldorfer Stadtteil Unterbilk, doch Ende 2015 war dann erst mal  Schluss. Seit Anfang des Jahres ist Franz-Josef nun zurück mit und in seinem "Schorn" und hat sich Verstärkung in Person von Lukas Schild an Bord geholt, der zuvor bei Jean-Claude Bourgueil im Schiffchen und in seinem eigenen "Kleinen Genussreich" in Düsseldorf kochte.

Und die beiden bilden ein ungewöhnliches, aber kongeniales Duo. Während Lukas die Gäste mit feiner frankophiler Küche mit regionalen Einflüssen verwöhnt, glänzt Franz-Josef als Gastgeber und offeriert feine Schätzchen aus seinem über Jahrzehnte prall gefüllten Weinkeller.

Für mich definitiv ein Konzept, das meinen persönlichen Zeitgeist trifft: Ein lockerer und gemütlicher Rahmen, feines Soulfood à la carte oder als Menü und dazu geile  und fair kalkulierte Weine ...was will man mehr?!

Auf die Teller gab es bei meinem Antrittsbesuch u. a. das Kaisertatar nach Helmut Thieltges mit Creme Epaisse, Zwiebelmayonnaise und Buhlbacher  Goldforellenkaviar, Millefeuille von Gänseleber und Matcha mit Hibiskus, Rote Bete und Piment d‘Esplettes und wunderbare Froschschenkel Müllerin Art mit Burgunderschnecken.

Gasto veteran Franz-Josef Schorn ran his restaurant of the same name in the Unterbilk district of Düsseldorf for more than 30 years, but it was over at the end of 2015. Since the beginning of the year, Franz-Josef has been back with and in his "Schhorn" and has brought reinforcements on board in the person of Lukas Schild, who previously cooked for Jean-Claude Bourgueil in the Schiffchen and in his own "Little Genussreich" in Düsseldorf .

And the two form an unusual but congenial duo. While Lukas spoils the guests with fine Francophile cuisine with regional influences, Franz-Josef shines as host and offers fine treasures from his wine cellar, which has been full to the brim for decades.

For me, it's definitely a concept that reflects my personal zeitgeist: a relaxed and cozy setting, fine soul food à la carte or as a menu and great and fairly priced wines...what more could you want?!

On my inaugural visit, the plates included: the imperial tartare according to Helmut Thalteges with creme epaisse, onion mayonnaise and Buhlbacher golden trout caviar, millefeuille of goose liver and matcha with hibiscus, beetroot and piment d'Esplettes and wonderful frog legs Müllerin style with Burgundy snails.

Essen war hervorragend. Haben a la carte bestellt. Dazu passende Weinempfehlungen bekommen. Weine waren ebenfallls sehr gut. Positiv war , das man für alle Weine einen kleinen "probierschluck" bekam.

Food was excellent. Ordered a la carte. Receive suitable wine recommendations. Wines were also very good. It was positive that you got a small “tasting sip” for all the wines.

Mein allerliebstes Lieblingsrestauant, wenn es um bezahlbar gehobene Küche geht. Lukas Schild kocht raffiniert, pointiert und sehr schmackhaft mit besten Zutaten. Ich mag Kreation und Geschmack sehr...das Restaurant ist klein, ein wenig plüschig, der Kontakt zu anderen Gästen ist schnell hergestellt,  wenn gewollt, und die Atmosphäre ist stimmig. Franz-Josef Schorn macht auf "seine alten Tagen" einen entspannten und unaufgeregten Service mit sehr guten Sommelier-Kenntnissen und einem herausragend vielfältigem Angebot.Hier gehe ich sehr gerne hin...immer wieder...seit Jahren!

My all-time favorite restaurant when it comes to affordable fine dining. Lukas Schild cooks cleverly, pointedly and very tasty with the best ingredients. I really like the creation and taste... the restaurant is small, a little plush, contact with other guests is established quickly if wanted, and the atmosphere is harmonious. In his old days, Franz-Josef Schorn provides a relaxed and calm service with very good sommelier knowledge and an outstandingly diverse offering. I really enjoy going here... again and again... for years!
