So, during an unanticipated heavy rainfall in Nice, most fortunately for us, this bijou restaurant happened to be situated next door to the equally bijou apartment we rented this weekend; along the Cannes-sur-Mer sea front. After a mad 15-second dash in the wet (it really was next door) we arrived at the restaurant to a very genuine welcome from Morgan (wife of the chef Guillaume). “Would you like to choose a table?” she asked. A first. And just… wow!

After being seated at our chosen table Morgan explained the menu. At first glance I worried the choices were too few. In hindsight I realise the menu was just as perfect as everything else about this place and, as Mr H reminded me, “do a few things but do them well”. That too must surely be this chef’s philosophy.

We opted for the “discovery menu” (complemented by a bottle of my favourite Pouilly Fumé) which took us on a mini mouthwatering tasting cruise. I only wish I’d thought to stop and photograph the whole journey rather than eating my way through this utterly sublime delicious “awakening of the everything” on a rainy afternoon. Naturally I’m lying! Eating was my priority so please trust my word and be thankful of the few photos I managed to slip in during my indulgent 90 minutes of devouring the most heavenly food in a long while.

Loved absolutely everything we ate today but special mention goes to the amuse bouche, the veal sweetbreads (YUM), Royal Squab and to the best Turbot I’ve ever tasted anytime, anywhere.

Thank you Chef Guillaume and Morgan. We very much look forward to a return visit sometime soon.

Ein phantastisches Restaurant! Eigentlich auf der Durchreise haben wir dieses Haubenlokal von Guillaume und Morgane entdeckt und sind begeistert! Ein kleines, sehr feines Restaurant mit sehr liebevollem und kompetenten Service von Morgan, tolle Präsentation der Speisen: Deliziöse Amuses Geules, die Vorspeisen (Jakobsmuschel auf dreierlei Art, pochiertes Ei in einem Linsenvelouté) waren köstlich. Auch die Hauptspeisen waren ein großartiges Geschmackserlebnis: Geschmorte Rindsbacken à la Bourgignon und ein Steinbutt in leichter Currysauce mit knackigem saisonalen Gemüse. Und der Jardin Exotique war der krönenden Abschluss! Wir kommen wieder!

A fantastic restaurant! We actually discovered this award-winning restaurant run by Guillaume and Morgane while we were passing through and we were thrilled! A small, very fine restaurant with very loving and competent service from Morgan, great presentation of the food: delicious amuses geules, the starters (scallop three ways, poached egg in a lentil velouté) were delicious. The main courses were also a great taste experience: Braised beef cheeks à la Bourgignon and a turbot in a light curry sauce with crunchy seasonal vegetables. And the Jardin Exotique was the crowning glory! We'll be back!

Dans les endroits touristiques il n'est pas rare que dans les restaurants on paye souvent plus l'emplacement que la cuisine qu'on retrouve dans notre assiette.
Mais en ce beau samedi ensoleillé, sur le bord de mer de Cagnes-sur-mer, c'est une toute autre expérience qui nous attendait...
Si le cadre était sublime, face à la mer, installés au frais dans une salle intimiste à la décoration élégante, nous avons vécu avec mon épouse un moment d'émerveillement gustatif qui surpasse de loin les meilleures expérience que nous avons pu expérimenter au restaurant.
Le service était impeccable, aux petits soins, avec des explications claires et pleines de passion sur tout ce qui nous était présenté, des petites mises en bouches aux plats, en passant par le pain d'une boulangerie centenaire, l'huile d'olive de leurs propres Oliviers et j'en passe certainement. Un véritable amour du produit qui se manifeste également dans les assiettes.
Au moment du dessert nous avons été touchés par une petite attention personnalisée pour notre anniversaire de mariage que nous avions brièvement mentionné au cours du repas. Ce sont des détails comme cela qui transforment un repas et subliment l'expérience.
La carte change régulièrement donc je ne rentrerai pas en détails dans les plats qui nous ont été proposés, et j'en parlerai certainement beaucoup moins bien que la façon dont ils nous été présentés. Mais je dirai : faites confiance au chef, laissez vous porter par sa cuisine, évadez vous!
Ce moment à l'Agapè à été le point culminant de notre escapade sur la côte d'Azur. Un moment hors du temps, par et pour la passion de la belle cuisine.

In tourist places it is not uncommon that in restaurants we often pay more for the location than for the cuisine we find on our plate.
But on this beautiful sunny Saturday, on the seaside of Cagnes-sur-mer, a completely different experience awaited us...
If the setting was sublime, facing the sea, seated in a cool, intimate room with elegant decoration, my wife and I experienced a moment of taste wonder that far surpasses the best experiences we have had in the restaurant.
The service was impeccable, attentive, with clear and passionate explanations of everything presented to us, from small appetizers to dishes, including bread from a century-old bakery, olive oil of their own Oliviers and I'm sure there are more. A true love of the product which also manifests itself on the plates.
At dessert time we were touched by a little personalized attention for our wedding anniversary that we had briefly mentioned during the meal. It's details like this that transform a meal and enhance the experience.
The menu changes regularly so I will not go into detail about the dishes that were offered to us, and I will certainly talk about them much less well than the way they were presented to us. But I will say: trust the chef, let yourself be carried away by his cuisine, escape!
This moment at Agapè was the highlight of our getaway on the French Riviera. A timeless moment, by and for the passion for beautiful cuisine.
