A Hidden Gem Along the Canal!

We had a wonderful dining experience at Zuem Ysehuet. Nestled in a quiet, charming location along the canal, this restaurant is housed in a beautiful historical building that adds to the atmosphere. While the exterior reflects its rich history, the interior is modern and almost minimalistic, creating a relaxing and elegant ambiance. In summer, the terrace is open, offering a lovely spot for outdoor dining, but it was closed during our visit due to the season.

The food is truly outstanding – a perfect blend of gourmet gourmand. Each dish was beautifully presented, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and a harmonious mix of heartwarming flavors and gastronomic flair.

The sommelier was a real highlight of the evening, offering expert wine pairings that perfectly complemented each course. Every wine we tried was spot on!

Overall, we highly recommend Zuem Ysehuet for anyone looking for a refined yet cozy dining experience. We’ll definitely be back to enjoy this gem again!

I had a very disappointing experience .Upon arrival, I was guided to my table by a lady who I believe may have been the owner. I politely asked if I could sit by the window, as it was my first time and I was unfamiliar with the layout. Her response was rude and dismissive, saying I could sit there “if I wanted to do dishes” because it was a service table.

The poor service continued when I asked for water while waiting for my friend—it took multiple requests to finally receive it. When it came time to order, we were pressured to order dessert along with our meal, which felt intrusive and unnecessary.

The most disturbing part of the experience came when I was finishing my crémant while waiting for our red wine to be served. In the middle of enjoying my drink, the same woman came and removed my half-full glass without asking, which was both inappropriate and frustrating. Though she apologized , her overall attitude was unacceptable for a restaurant that claims to be of high quality.

To top it off, while we were still having dessert around 13:50, we could hear loud noises coming from the kitchen, which ruined the ambiance. The food itself was just decent—not bad, but certainly nothing exceptional.

Overall, this experience was far below my expectations. Between the unprofessional service and average food, it felt more like a visit to a low-end street joint than a restaurant of this supposed caliber. I won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend it to others.

This diamond in the rough offers a lovely menu with an excellent wine pairing. The staff is incredibly friendly and forthcoming.

There is one thing though, bring mosquito spray. As the tables (in summer) are outside, there are some mosquitos during sunset.

My advice is to try the spider crab as a starter and getting the wine pairing with the three course menu.

Decent dinner at Zuem Ysehuet. Was not a huge fan of the petit pois. The black Angus was very good, and so was the dessert with the exception of the listerine flavoured perlage on the side, which wasn't for me. Nice wine pairing too. Would have been nice to sit outside, but the weather didn't allow for it... maybe next time

Amuse bouche and tartare de canard were not tasty at all.
Black Angus was good and tender, but too much garnish.
The veau was good in it's preparation but was overpowered by the corn flavor.
We also had the wine pairing and I don't recommend it because the sommelier didn't show us the bottle from which he poured the wine: the quality of the wines was also below average, especially the Merlot and the last sweet wine. It would have been better if I ordered a single bottle from the good wine list.
