Belgium is the country to go to if you are looking for the best in quality value in fine dining. Especially in Ghent.  Over the last ten years, we have been in awe of the quality, creativeness and consistency of Vrijmoed.  Always a perfect blend of taste and harmony and so difficult to find in most fine dining restaurants.  A master craft chef who can even make  vegetarian dishes taste so rich and inviting.

Well worth the 2 Michelin stars, the service was above and beyond, Chef Michael comes around in the beginning and shows me the white truffles and I had to add it to the mushroom dish, it was alright if I may add. My favorite dishes were the oyster tartare and the pan fried scallops and last but not least the dessert with pistachio grape and green herbs, refreshing! Definitely book in advance for your experience here, you won't be disappointed.  It is one of the few Michelin star restaurants that have asked me how fast/slow I would have my meal, I think that was a nice touch.

I make my way to Ghent every time visiting Belgium for the pure pleasure of eating Chef Michaël Vrijmoed’s food creations! And you should too :)

An excellent 7-course menu in a cozy setting. All the dishes were very delicious and formed a balanced and elegant whole. The wine pairing was spot on and the price of 79 euros for it very reasonable considering the quality. The restaurant's friendly staff serves with professionalism and completes the experience. Vrijmoed has fully earned its stars.

We were here for lunch (if you can still call it that when you’re staying until 16u) and had the 5 course menu. I took the vegetarian option and my wife the “normal“ one. Both were fantastic. I also had the matched wines. Initially asked for the “bob“ (=driver) version with half glasses. I quickly realised that info must have gotten lost since i got the normal amounts but i didn’t care to correct since i enjoyed the wines too much (and I didn’t need to drive anyway). Attentive and very friendly service all around. Our compliments to the chef and the team.
