Fantastic one star Michelin brasserie where they found the perfect mix between being casual while still offering top notch food and service it is really impressive. All the waiters are immediately putting you at ease and make funny jokes that are immediately making you feel right at home really impressive!!

Food wise my recommendation is really to go outside of your comfort zone and order their signature dishes such as the calf brain with tartare sauce, the ham mousse was my absolute favorite and the “hareng a l’huile” was my close second in the starter section.

For the mains we had the cote a l’os for 2 people and then I ordered an “Américain” aka beef tartare more or less and Philippe our waiter didn’t allow it saying it was a little sad to order such a basic dish of hike they have some much better things such as their poultry with morrilles mushrooms so I followed his recommandation and it was to die for definitely recommend that!

Drinks wise everything is on top for desserts we had the crepes Suzette’s which were fantastic, the ice cream with vodka and orange zests which were so refreshing and then the whipped cheesecake meringue and cherry which was also out of this world.

We can’t wait to be back and thank you to all the staff this was really amazing 🤩

An absolutely wonderful meal will be back for sure. The food is delicious and has the perfect portions to get you full without over cooking you. The staff is very kind,relaxed and professional. The venue is what you want when you go to a place with this much history. It’s got the cozy homey vibe of a small bistro. With a chef that reminds people that sauces are a supplement of a dish not the main event. Thank you.

Dining at Le Pigeon Noir is like wandering into a dream where your grandma dons a Michelin star and cooks with all the finesse of a culinary maestro, her dishes drenched in memories and perfected flavors. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a reverie, a sanctuary of tastes that feel tenderly familiar yet unmistakably elevated.

From the very start, I was welcomed with the warmest of smiles by the Philips—both of them, two charming stewards of hospitality. They’re not just servers but storytellers, weaving a tapestry of chit-chat and genuine laughter that lingers long after the meal. These two don’t just meet expectations; they sidestep mediocrity and dance gracefully into excellence, offering brilliant wine pairings that somehow knew me better than I know myself.

My meal was a parade of nostalgia with Michelin polish. I began with oysters, so fresh they seemed to echo the ocean itself. Each bite was a briny kiss from the sea. Then came the Entrecôte adorned with a pepper sauce that can only be described as celestial—a sauce so perfectly balanced, it almost brought me to tears right there on my birthday. Yes, reader, it was that good, the kind of flavor that sneaks into your soul and leaves you wondering if any pepper sauce could ever compare again.

For dessert, the Sabayon floated into my life like a delicate cloud, its sweetness swirling with just the right touch of warmth, followed by an Irish coffee so indulgently crafted that it felt like an embrace from the inside out.

By the end, I felt spoiled, a little emotional, and absolutely certain of one thing: Le Pigeon Noir is a treasure. It’s where impeccable food, homestyle warmth, and Michelin-level finesse come together, all in the care of two Philips, among others, whose service should be bottled up and sold as the gold standard of hospitality.

If you’re in Brussels, go. Let the flavors take you, and raise a glass to grandmas everywhere—because here, it truly feels as though they’re in the kitchen, weaving a bit of magic into every bite.

It’s a very intimate setting with eclectic decorations. I came in for lunch and sat at the bar. I was clearly a foreigner who didn’t speak French. The owner was extremely welcoming and explained each dish to me. He then recommended a few choices. I ended up starting with the smoked ham patte, which is either unique for the region or restaurant (sorry mixed it up). The owner explained to me the historical reason how the recipe came about! The patte was unique to me, flavor was decent and tasted good with the bread. Can’t quite critique it for I had no idea what to expect. It came with a salad that had pieces of fried duck skin. Also unique and tasted good.
For my entree, I went with the duck confit. It was covered by a bed of mash potatoes which was sort of bland. However, beneath was duck meat that melts in your mouth. Extremely juicy and flavorful pieces within the dish. My neighbor ordered the fish of the day and it looked delicious. The presentation of their dishes is very artistic.
I had a wonderful dining experience!
