These are the best pancakes I have ever tasted! The rich coconut flavor combined with a subtle touch of sweetness makes them truly exceptional. Alright folk, me & Donkey, along with a group of friends, had our fair share of pancakes, but nothing prepared me for the experience we had. After one bite, I knew I had to go back. And let me tell you, the drive was worth every kilometer.  The queue snaking out the door was a testament to their popularity, but trust me, it's worth the wait.

These aren't your average pancakes. They're fresh, crispy, and perfectly sweet, with a unique texture that's both light and satisfying. They're a quintessential part of Phuket cuisine, found nowhere else on the island. You can taste the quality of the ingredients, and the way they're cooked is truly special.

What makes this place even more incredible is the price. You're getting Michelin-worthy quality for a fraction of the cost. Kitty and I, along with our group of friends, were strolling through the charming streets of Phuket Old Town when we stumbled upon A Pong Mae Sunee (อาโป๊งแม่สุณี). We noticed the Michelin award displayed prominently and were immediately intrigued.  After doing a quick search on Google and looking around the store, we learned about its rich history.  This family-run establishment is more than just a street food stall; it's a Phuket institution.  For over 50 years, they've been serving up khanom a pong (ขนม อา โป๊ง), a beloved local dessert, with a dedication to tradition and quality that has earned them a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition.  We knew we had to try it.

A Pong Mae Sunee's khanom a pong are not just any sweet treat; they are a unique culinary experience.  These crispy, lightly sweetened coconut crepes are cooked in mini woks over charcoal, resulting in a perfect balance of textures: a light, crispy shell and a soft, gooey center.    The coconut flavor is subtle yet distinct, giving the crepes a unique and delicious taste.

The stall itself is a testament to the family's dedication.  You'll find charcoal grills lined up in front, with a small hole pan where the skilled bakers meticulously spread the batter and cook the crepes.    The aroma of the charcoal and the sight of the crepe making process are part of the experience.

We were captivated by the skill and care with which the khanom a pong were made.  Each crepe was cooked to perfection, with a beautiful golden-brown color and a perfectly crisp texture.  We couldn't resist trying a few, and they were absolutely delicious.  The combination of sweet and savory flavors, along with the unique texture, was truly unforgettable.

When I tried these pancakes I said I need to experience this once again! I indeed returned to this place and it was worth every km driven. The queue was worth waiting. Fresh, crispy and sweet pancakes. Typical Phuket cuisine, specific only to this island. Prices are incredible for this kind of place: Michelin guide mentioning for the years in a row!

There was a lane and people waiting so I joined in not knowing for what. The pancakes/crepes were really tasty and only slightly sweet. No wonder they quickly ran out, sending tourists away with "no more". Also doing these in such heat is a worthy feat.
