I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday at Cote Restaurant in Bangkok on August 28, 2024, and it was an experience worth savoring. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the restaurant’s stunning interior—a harmonious blend of clean lines and elegant decor that sets a sophisticated tone. The atmosphere was chic yet comfortable, making it the perfect backdrop for a special occasion.

The service was equally impressive. The staff demonstrated exceptional professionalism and had a deep knowledge of the menu, enhancing the overall dining experience. They were attentive and personable, ensuring we felt well taken care of throughout our visit.

Now, let’s talk about the food. Cote’s culinary philosophy shines through in every dish, emphasizing the natural flavors of the ingredients while ensuring that each plate is masterfully seasoned and well-balanced. The flavors were vibrant and engaging—never bland or flat—showcasing the chef’s skillful touch.

My only minor quibble was with the pacing of the meal. There were longer-than-expected intervals between courses, which slightly disrupted the flow of the dining experience. While this didn’t detract from the quality of the food, it did create a bit of a lull in what was otherwise a delightful evening.

My husband told me that Capella has been voted the best hotel in 2023 and 2024. Therefore, I booked this restaurant to see whether it serves the accolades.  I was running late as I could not get a taxi. I ended up taking the BTS and then a shuttle boat to arrive here. I walked past the buffet lunch restaurant. There was a wide selection of food with very fresh seafood and sashimi. I almost wanted to cancel my reservation at Cote by Mauro Colagreco and tried the buffet lunch! The French waiter Gwen helpfully explained to me what my selected menu included. I initially thought that I was given the choices for selection. I subsequently realized that I had selected kind of a tasting menu which included sea urchin, oysters, Crab from Britany (great for people like my husband & daughter who are not good with removing shells), caviar, salmon & my main course which was pigeon. I usually prefer seafood without seasoning but the way the oyster was cooked was delicious. Although I don’t normally take bakery or carbohydrate, the bread and desserts were so good that I could not resist them. When I told a waiter that I’m not a fan of olive oil, he explained to me that the olive oil was special blended with lemon and some herbs that was worth trying, even though he also served me  a  butter. I did try the special blended olive oil, which was refreshing and better than the ordinary one. The service was excellent. The food fully deserved the two-star.The ambience was good but there is room for improvement (perhaps because I had lunch at IGNIV yesterday that ambience gave a more exclusive feeling). If anyone wants to have a treat with good food, this is the place to go. When I come back to Bangkok next time, it is very likely that I will come back😋

Ended up visiting Cote just 2 days after they got their 2nd Michelin star. So my expectations going in increased versus the time I had made the reservation.

The tasting menu comprised around 13 courses including the amuse bouche and petit fours. Other than the pigeon course, no other dish made me go “wow”, which is not what I expected. Maybe it’s just the current menu (as menus change with season) which I felt was not upto the mark of a 2 star restaurant. Having been to over 70 Michelin star restaurants, I actually felt that the current menu is at max a one star experience, and that might also be a bit generous.

Service was quite good. Absolutely no complaints there.

So overall, the dinner was a disappointment for me personally. However, different people have different flavour/taste preferences, and so it’s for people to try this place out and form their own opinions.

Awarded 2 Michelin-stars and specialising in Riviera-inspired (with Mediterranean, French and Italian influences) cuisine, @cote.bangkok is another of Bangkok's fine-dining gems located along the Chao Phraya River.

Their current Festive Season 9-course menu (8,000 THB per pax, additional 5,000 THB per pax for wine-pairing) is an exciting omakase journey featuring seasonal ingredients that is both delicious and filling. The predominantly seafood menu truly gives you a taste of the ocean, with courses that include crab, tuna, caviar, mackerel, sea urchin, oyster, langoustine, scallop and culminates in amazing ocean trout and pigeon main courses.

Come hungry and with an open mind and palate and you're in for a good time.

Excellent food creation with impressive service, worth 1 star Michelin guide. The chef decided not to tell you anything about the dishes you going to have, everything is kept as a secret,
The food is prepared exceptionally, you will be amazed.
