I feel like most of the reviews talk bad about this zoo (at least the most recent ones) and in reality it’s a really nice zoo. You can rent golf carts and go around the without walking (I DEFINITELY recommend renting them as most of the zoo is up and down).

Seeing all of the animals were cool too. Although the aquarium was 10$ a person (AFTER paying to get inside the zoo), the rest of the zoo had enough animals to keep us there for more than 2 hours.

This is a zoo that is fun for the family and friends. We also came while a school field trip was happening. Lots of high schoolers walking around while we were in a golf cart. Definitely worth coming here!

I enjoyed the zoo, easy to see animals and my daughter loved the winter wonderland experience. Nice restaurant near the aquarium. Animal enclosures are good. Environment is very nice. You can walk or hire a golf buggy.

My husband and I are really big fans of zoos and at any given opportunity we go to different zoos. From all the zoos we’ve been at, the Chiang Mai zoo was pretty disappointing.
The zoo is huge! And the landscape is not easy to walk by foot. We recommend you to come with comfortable shoes and take a golf cart if you are a big family or, as we did, to buy tickets to the zoo trams at the entrance. (When you buy the tickets you can choose to use the tram at different stations in the zoo).
When we visited (November 2024) there were a lot of empty exhibitions, our biggest disappointment was the pandas, instead of real pandas, their exhibition was full with panda photos, and the staff there told us that the pandas were gone :(
Moreover, the zoo was filled with ants.
Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay for 4 hours and enjoyed the beautiful views and places in the zoo, the unique animals and especially the aquarium!
The staff were very nice and helpful.
In addition there is a snow dome (the tickets to this were pretty expensive, 500 baht).

Very sad and unfortunate to see this place has rapidly deteriorated which is probably as some of the main animals are no longer available. Looking very run down and not easy to navigate unless take tram or hire a cart. Very steep in places and ticket prices didn’t seem to be simple to include everything. We purchased zoo entrance but then to go into aquarium and snow world these were additional once got to the location which we could’ve paid in advance having know and these were higher than park entrance. Not very easily signposted in the grounds and lacking food outlets and facilities. Many of the animals were unavailable. Hopefully this place can be saved as can see this used be a thriving place but sadly not now.
