Ordered nasi ambang (1 pax) for 38rm and tauhu telur 25rm. Add 10% and 6% tax to the above.

Honestly tauhu telur is too much for two people. It is good if you have like 4 or more then it will definitely be more enjoyable.

Nasi ambang are mostly hit. Perkdel is the best i ever had. Their chicken curry is fantastic as well. The curry only thought. Chicken some parts are actually tough.

The fried achar is also good. Brinjal is also good but could be more crispy. Salted egg and coconut are normal, the fish is salted fish so they all goes well with the rice and might as well so. The rice really need the sambal chili. Reasonably spicy.

I never liked indo keropok and this is no exception. Rather bitter for me.

I was in this area of KL and decided to try Congkak which is in the Bib Gourmand list.  It is fairly easy to find, it is just off the main street.  The name of the restaurant and the cuisine it serves is a bit confusing.  The word Congkak is an old traditional Malaysian game whereas the main food it serves is Nusantara cuisine which is of Indonesian origin.

Initially, I wanted to try the Rendang Tok platter, the waiter however advised this is a shared dish and that the portion size meant he recommended Nasi Dendeng Daging which is similar to the platter, I took his recommendation.  Alongside that I ordered Kangkung Belacan which is a vegetable side dish, Pulum Hitam for dessert and a drink called ‘Michael Jackson’.  The waiter then read the order back to me as stated above and I agreed with it.

When the food arrived, given I had never been to this place before, unbeknown to me it was in fact the platter that arrived.  I started eating without realising what was put in front of me was not Nasi Dendeng Daging but it was the platter I was originally interested in ordering.  Then the Nasi Dendeng Daging turned up as well, at that point I turned it away.  Someone who did not introduce himself from the restaurant came to my table to ask why I was turning away the dish.  I explained I was recommended the Nasi Dendeng Daging but the platter that I did not order turned up and I did not realise the difference.  I said I had no idea why the waiter ordered everything.  I managed to just about finish the platter and the Kangkung Belacan.  After waiting for a period of time, I asked when the Pulum Hitam would arrive as I had already waited a while for this only to be told the order wasn’t taken for it!!!  There was no formal apology from the restaurant, it didn’t seem to make someone think, if it is an order for one isn’t that a vast amount of food and perhaps to double check on the order.

Aside from the calamitous way how the restaurant is run, the food itself is actually very good, I would recommend going there for the food.

When the bill arrived they charged for the platter and not the Nasi Dendeng Daging, quite frankly I didn’t really want to leave a tip given the situation.

Overall, very tasty food but the overall service is terrible.

Ordered the Nasi Ambeng for 2-3 pax. Quantity was sufficient for 2, might be a stretch for 3. Individually, my favourite components were the bergedil, ahchar and salted egg. Sambal was good too. As a whole, I felt that the components were too dry and didn’t meld together. Chicken was stewed for too long - to the point that texture was a little mushy. Fish was super fishy and didn’t taste fresh.

Pricing also didn’t make sense to me as the 2-3 pax portion was about 3x the price of the single portion but all other components made it look like it’s x2 of a single portion (eg 2 bergedil, 2 halves of an egg, 2 fish).

Took a recommendation from a popular YouTube page and visited Congkak as the final place to eat as part of our Malaysian trip. We ordered the Nasi Ambeng and some drinks (Virgin Mojito, Assam Boy, When Apple Met Mint).

For the Michelin Guide recognition that this restaurant has gotten for 3 years, I felt the food was mediocre. Felt the components of the dish weren't as 'fresh' as one would expect. I definitely have had better versions of these dishes in less fancy places. Service was okay. The positives were the presentation and portion size which were ample for 3 people to enjoy. The highlight, surprisingly, were the drinks!

So I don't think this is a must visit place. If you are in the area you can check it out but I don't think the flavors are as memorable as one would expect for a restaurant rated by Michelin. They definitely need to eat around more!

Friendly, conveniently located off bukit bintang. We had the nasi ambeng, probably not what we were expecting. The food was delicious but did not have the signature Indonesian dishes, partly our fault for not reading the menu carefully - vegetables, achar, crackers, eggs, bergedil, fried fish and chicken curry and 3 sambals

But the sambal was delicious. I suppose if you do come, as showcased in their menu, you should try the other dishes instead. Great presentation of food though.
