Perfect lunch.
Sitting by the window overlooking the dainty garden in the exquisite ancient building was a luxury itself. Food was delicious from the first dish to the last. Service was attentive and warmhearted which reminds me of the Japanese word おもてなし. Cannot ask for more by its super reasonable lunch price. One of my nicest dining experiences and will definitely come back again.

We made reservations for my birthday and it was a wonderful experience. I specified we only speak English when making the reservation, and our server Hiro was so friendly and helpful!

The food was incredible. I come from an Italian family, and I’m honestly very bored of Italian food. The fusion of Japanese and Italian cuisine is skillfully executed and delicious. They had me enjoying ingredients I normally dislike. The full course was the perfect amount of food—no need for takeout after the fine dining experience.

The view from our table was better than I could have imagined. Hokan-ji peeking out from the garden!

And after a wonderful meal, they even gave us hand warmers for our journey home in the chilly weather. So thoughtful! You’ll feel very cared for when you dine here.

I was here for a wedding lunch and tried a few of their courses. Food were overall very well made and handled with care. Plating was delicate. Staff were polite and paid attention to details. But they are not good at handling ad hoc requests like one extra piece of butter for handing out 2nd round of bread. In the end I never got the extra butter that I asked for.

Up until desserts I liked them all quite a lot; unfortunately I personally still found some of the desserts a bit too sweet to my liking.

Amazing experience! This Italian restaurant is set in a beautiful, traditional Japanese building. The food was outstanding, fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked pasta, and delicious dishes. The fusion of Italian flavors with a hint of Japanese influence made every dish special. The staff were friendly.
Highly recommend this place for a memorable meal in Kyoto!

It was a wonderful time for celebrating of my Birthday! My friend reserved for it and they prepared a very nice seat with a good view of their garden :) Thank you for the lovely time!
