I had high expectation of this restaurant but it turned out to be a disappointing experience, where presentation outweighed taste, lacking in detail. The environment and service fell short of the Michelin two-star reputation. The biggest letdown was finding a hair on one of the bread servings.

#Food#
1. We took festive lunch but I found nothing impressive. The only thing worth mentioning was the brioche with fermented bean curd butter. (honestly the brioche is average level)
2. Overall, the flavors were monotonous. "Ode to Duck" had excessively fatty and greasy roasted duck skin, paired with oily sauce and heavy-textured taro, making it overly greasy.
3. Tea pairing is bad. The most unacceptable part was that the hot tea was not kept warm. Two types of hot tea were served, but they were already cold when poured, and they didn't proactively refill the tea during the meal.

#Environment#
Appreciated for arranging the private room, but the chairs had oil stains or red wine stains for some reason.
The tableware was beautiful.
The restroom had a unique design. (But I don’t like having the men’s and women’s restroom in the same room…)

#Service#
Overall, the service was okay. However, it fell far short of Michelin service standards, with three main issues:
I found a hair in one of the dishes (brioche with curb butter), which was the first time I encountered this in a Michelin restaurant.
Service still need improvement. For example, when serving dessert, the server accidentally spilled sauce on the table but didn't proactively clean it up. They only cleaned it after I pointed it out.
Serving pace can be improved. The appetizers and first two courses were served in a good pace, but when it came to the main courses, we wait for each dish for around 20-30 minutes.

Considering the price of the set menu and pairing, I believe it was far from worth it. I will not come again.

Exceptional experience. Impressed by the restaurant’s light & airy ambiance, with soft pastel tones creating a calm, elegant setting that felt both contemporary & inviting. The staff were friendly & knowledgeable, making us feel comfortable while explaining the tasting menu & wine pairings.

Of course the food was the highlight of the evening. Each dish was beautifully presented & thoughtfully crafted, with bold flavors that felt both modern & refined. We particularly appreciated that the portions were just right - not too much or overwhelming, making the tasting menu feel perfectly paced & well-suited to us Asians with a modest appetite. Every bite was a pleasant surprise. The menu truly showcased Cheffe Vicky Lau & her team’s creativity & skill.

The wine pairings were absolutely outstanding. The sommelier did a fantastic job selecting wines that perfectly complemented the flavours of each dish. We especially liked the mix of vins de niche - many of which we hadn’t tried before. The sommelier was also very knowledgeable & shared insightful details about each wine, which added a personal touch to the experience.

One of the best Michelin star restaurants in HK: great Asian/French fusion based on seasonal ingredients. Service was amazing with excellent wines recommendation, detailed explanation of the dishes and the right balance of professionalism/friendliness. I’ll go back !

Really friendly staff! Great food and vipe🙇‍♂️🫡🫡

If it’s possible, The caviar should move to the langoustine course
Because the egg course for me is salty enough
The bread for egg course is a little bit dry.

The scallop course was stunning, one of the best soufflé i hv ever had in Hong Kong
The sauce of the pigeon course is prefect too.

To be honest, I’m a bit scared of Chinese-french fusion, but what i had today is top notch 👌

I am NEVER disappointed when I come to Tate. I dined here with a few girlfriends and we all enjoyed the meal. Every dish comes from the heart.  The intricate details of every single item placed on the dish is well thought of.  Food was hot, fresh, beautifully presented and most importantly every dish was scrumptious 😋 The dessert trolly was mind blowing! They have the prettiest and tastiest desserts.   We will revisit again soon.
