A buzzing coffee shop with the food and service to match!

Having arrived to an almost full coffee shop there were the natural concerns of wait time or service.

However after being sat at our table our waitress was superb and we were able to have all our expertly crafted meals in-front of us in no time.

The home made pie was definitely a favorite and if you’re ever in the area  it’s a must visit.

Best breakfast in Cape Town. Dirty Bun is top tier and almond croissants off the charts. Staff are so friendly and welcoming, especially our waitress Dorcas. Thank you so much!

Jason’s Bakery – Bustling with Vibes, Good Coffee, but a Bit Overhyped

Jason’s Bakery has a great energy. It’s buzzing, festive, and full of life, especially on weekends. There’s both inside and outside seating, making it a fun, casual spot for a brunch catch-up or a solo coffee stop.

Coffee
The coffee was excellent. I ordered a flat white with almond milk (R42 + R15 for almond), and it was smooth, rich, and well-made. Definitely one of the highlights for me and a good reason to stop by.

Food
I opted for the SCRAMBLED (R75), which comes with oven-roasted rosa tomatoes and rocket on sourdough. I added mushrooms on the side, but at an extra R50, I was honestly shocked by the price given the small portion and underwhelming flavor.

The sourdough itself was a standout. It was crispy, fresh, and clearly of great quality. Unfortunately, the rest of the dish fell a bit flat. The scrambled eggs were decent but lacked seasoning, and the tomatoes and mushrooms could have used a lot more flavor to stand out. I found myself reaching for the salt and Tabasco to bring the dish to life. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it didn’t blow me away, which was a letdown considering all the hype surrounding Jason’s Bakery.

Final Thoughts
The vibe is great, the coffee is excellent, and the bread is top-notch. But for the price, I expected more from the food, both in terms of portion size and flavor. Maybe I caught them on an off day or had my expectations set too high, but overall, it was just good, not extraordinary. I’d definitely return for the coffee and to try something else on the menu, but I’ll skip the mushrooms next time!

Freshly baked breads and pastries on-site. Love the breakfast options and the limited edition menu , it's like a lucky packet with the best surprises, my go to when I'm in  Greenpoint . If you looking for good food you can't go wrong. Always busy , you may have to wait for a table

Delicious! We got the avocado toast, scrambled eggs with bacon and chickpea sandwich. Quick, and the dishes were very generous and dirty chai was delicious. Highly recommend!!
