I came along to River Cottage last night - I attended the Thursday night vegetable supper club with friends.

The food was delicious, innovative. Full of flavour.

There are 2 courses to choose from, mains and a dessert.

I had the curried squash Dal with Kale this was amazing. Followed by a chocolate beetroot torte with spiced poached pears and yoghurt.

This was a delight for my taste buds.

Friendly, relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant and very friendly staff.

Very affordable prices on food and drinks.

There is a shop come deli inside the restaurant selling a great selection of cook books, blankets, honey and more.

RC I will come again. I loved it!

Quaint country cottage where you can relax and enjoy a real home- made lunch straight from the farm. Nearby you can visit I the farm itself and walk around the beautiful countryside.
Kind staff.

We stayed in the Gardener’s Cottage and ate at the Chef’s Table experience. It is an excellent opportunity to taste new dishes prepared to a very high standard by experts. The ingredients are locally sourced and so fresh that we saw the picking some of them on the day. At seven courses it is filling so don’t fill up on the sourdough bread. Some of the paired drinks had ‘unique’ flavours and I wouldn’t buy it if I was choosing for myself. Well worth the cost.

Came here on a whim on the way down to the coast as we were fans of the show and it was incredible. Service was outstanding, food is unbelievably fresh and delicious, the view was beautiful.
Ordered the special (mackerel with pickles, potatoes and dukkah crumb) as well as the mushrooms on toast with some kombucha and everything was beyond delicious.
Absolutely lived up to expectations and would recommend!

I recently attended the Basic Ferments and Global Ferments courses run by Rachel De Thample at River Cottage HQ on consecutive days, and both were absolutely fantastic.

Rachel is an excellent teacher—knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about fermentation. Each course was packed with information and hands-on opportunities, and I came away with a solid understanding of the techniques, plenty of inspiration, and confidence to try more at home.

The sessions were well-structured, with a great balance between learning the science behind fermentation and the practical steps for creating delicious ferments. I especially appreciated the range of recipes we explored, from classic basics to more adventurous global flavors.

I’ve brought several ferments home and can’t wait to taste them once they’re ready. These courses have truly transformed how I think about fermented foods, and I’d recommend them to anyone interested in exploring this fascinating and rewarding area of cooking.
